DAY 1: MINDO – FOOD TOUR AND ADVENTURE

Our first stop is at the Equator line, where you will get to taste some snacks featuring typical Ecuadorian dishes. Afterward, we will heard to Mindo—Cloud Forest.

Additionally, Mindo is a small town nestled amidst beautiful mountains, offering a unique ecosystem in Ecuador known for its biodiversity and birding. But Mindo is more than nature; it boasts a great diversity of dishes.

The multi-day food tour in Mindo is a perfect blend of tasting and adventure.

You’ll visit the award-winning chocolate makers: Quetzal de Mindo or Yumbos chocolate.

During the one-hour chocolate tour, you will learn more about how the cacao tree grows. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to try the fresh cacao fruit, roasted cacao beans, and nibs. After that, take a stroll around the small farm’s grounds, stopping by the fermentation, drying, roasting, and grinding cacao stations. Finally, taste products with unique cacao derivatives, a variety of flavors, and indulge in a delicious brownie.

In addition, the coffee tour is not to be missed. Walk around the sustainable coffee plantation and observe the nursery, the growth process, and the artisanal roasting process. Afterward, the guide will explain the different roasting techniques and how they influence the flavor and quality of the product. Taste freshly roasted coffee at the Mindo Coffee tour.

We aim to make the most of your day in Mindo; therefore, zip lining and the Mindo Nambillo Waterfall hike–Tarabita are included. Additionally, it is also possible to add additional activities in Mindo: butterfly garden, rappelling, Minjoky-teleferico, orchid garden, tubing, and horseback riding.

The typical dishes from Mindo include bananas prepared in various ways, trout, palm heart ceviche, chicken soup, fritada, and tilapia. You will delight in one of these famous dishes for lunch.
